The Brief

To celebrate the launch of Disclosure’s new album, ENERGY, we were asked to create a Minecraft world based on the album’s cover artwork.

The Build

To bring the album to life, we hosted a Minecraft multiplayer server which any player could join. The server contained our version of the album artwork, reimagined as a square mile of rolling hills, thick forests and dark caverns. Inside these caves, we recreated 3 underground clubs inspired by iconic music venues from around the world. After joining, players could then hunt for 13 hidden music tracks, including 9-bit reworks of some of the duo’s most loved tracks.

The Result

Our Minecraft server was live for one week, and was visited by thousands of Minecraft players from all over the world. The project was also heavily featured in international press including the Rolling Stone, Musically and many more. Within the music industry, the project has been highlighted as an innovative example of music marketing within the gaming community.
