The Brief

To create an innovative new training program for PepsiCo inside Minecraft. The program was based on the company’s own LSS (Lean Six Sigma) productivity training – originally designed as an in-person activity, and now reimagined as a virtual training experience inside Minecraft. The idea and a working prototype came from a PepsiCo employee’s 10-year-old son – the benefits of merging work and life at its finest. While Minecraft has seen a recent surge in use from schools looking for virtual environments for online teaching, PepsiCo is the first major corporation to use Minecraft as a learning platform on this scale.

The Build

We have recreated the entire Lean Six Sigma training program inside Minecraft, allowing PepsiCo employees from around the world to remotely participate in the training. Since launching this program, hundreds of PepsiCo employees from a dozen different countries have been trained using Minecraft LSS, with plans to train more than 1000 employees globally next year.

The Result

The project was cited by PepsiCo’s CEO, Ramon Laguarta, as an example of innovative digitalisation strategy, and has been featured as a case study by number of HR and Learning outlets, including Oxford’s Saïd Business School.

After announcing the project in December 2020, many other large corporations who use similar productivity trainings have enquired about our Minecraft training program. Courtesy of PepsiCo, the Minecraft LSS program is now free to download and use, worldwide. The Minecraft files are available to download from the link below, enabling companies, schools and other institutions to benefit from this unique virtual training experience.
